Herschel Walker Says ‘I’m Not That Smart’ When Asked About Upcoming Debate With Sen. Raphael Warnock

The former NFL player said the Georgia Senator “is going to show up and embarrass me.”

After months of back and forth, GOP contender Herschel Walker has finally agreed to debate Sen. Raphael Warnock. However, Walker doesn’t sound very confident.

According to the Savannah Morning News, on Sept. 16, Walker told a reporter while touring the Port of Savannah, “I'm a country boy. I'm not that smart. He's a preacher. (Warnock) is smart and wears these nice suits. So, he is going to show up and embarrass me at the debate Oct. 14th, and I'm just waiting to show up and I will do my best.”

It should be noted Walker is also the same person who claimed he graduated in the top 1% of his class at the University of Georgia, which was proven to be a lie.

The candidates will debate Oct. 14 in Savannah. It’s unclear if Walker will commit to a second debate that Warnock had long said was non-negotiable.

The race is hotly contested, as control of the entire U.S. Senate is at stake. Warnock, who won his election bid in a 2021 runoff, is seeking his first full term in office. Walker has never held elected public office. A recent Quinnipiac poll has Warnock leading Walker 52 percent to 46 percent.
