"New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman lifted the banner for a multi-state legal assault on the White House Wednesday to defend the “Dreamers” immigration program rescinded by President Trump.
In a lawsuit joined by 15 states and Washington, D.C., Schneiderman and other attorneys general contend that Trump’s order violates the due process rights of people of Mexican descent, who account for 78% of the undocumented immigrants who were protected under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
“When bullies step up you have to step up to them and step up to them quickly,” Schneiderman said during a rally at John Jay College.
“Dreamers play by the rules, Dreamers work hard, Dreamers pay taxes. They deserve to stay here.”
