The key factor that this article ignores is that middle class Americans with the same education as whites or with a higher level of education make less money than comparable whites. The curtailing of affirmative action programs, which helped to alleviate this problem has exacerbated the gap. Just study the jobs obtained by graduates at top professional schools. White with poorer grades consistently get better paying jobs. This is an example of how white privilege permeates American society and continues to transfer wealth from African Americans to their white brethren.
