Islamist Mohammed Morsi, leader of Muslim Brotherhood, wins Egypt election - World News

At the beginning of the Egyptian uprising against Mubarak I predicted if Mubarak was deposed the Islamic Brotherhood would win in Democratic elections.  The reality is that the military, which has ruled Egypt since 1952, is still in power.  Parliament was dissolved and presidential power was largely moved to the military.  This power struggle in Egypt is far from over.  A true revolution means that the class in power is overthrown.  That has not happened as of yet in Egypt.  Stay tuned.

Hypocracy combined with pure ignorance of American history is the operating agenda of opponents of the Affordable Healthcare Act.

Countdown To The Supreme Court's Ruling On Health Care : Shots - Health Blog : NPR

Remember George Washington issued orders mandating that all white males buy guns and ammunition when he was President. No one, including his critics questioned his power to do it. This current controversy is purely political. The current activist Supreme Court is anything but conservative. It is engaged in reactionary activism. Bush v. Gore and Citizens United prove this point. If the SCOTUS actually followed American law and traditions they would recognize that the Commerce Clause of the Constitution gives Congress the power to mandate the purchase of health care.

I hope he does not continue in the well worn path of homophobia that this demonization has made it's trademark following it's belated abandonment of it's pro-segregation posture. I would not want to be in his shoes.

This is a sad foot note on an American tragedy. It is even sadder that today. Father's Day's African Americans are having to march in NYC to protest the clearly unconstitutional practice of the racially motivated stop and frisk policy supported by the City of New York in spite of it's demonstrated ineffectiveness at lowering crime rates. This type of state sponsored harassment must end now.
